Policy for symposia honoring the work of an individual:

Suggestions of possible symposia that honor the work of an individual scientist should be presented to the program chair ideally at least 18 months in advance of the ACS meeting at which it will be held. The proposed symposia will be expected to meet the usual scientific standards of the symposia that are sponsored by PHYS and should be based on a scientific topic rather than a gathering of friends and colleagues of the individual being honored.

Proposals for symposia will be considered by the Executive Committee, which meets during the spring and fall ACS meetings.
