Chemistry on the Internet:
The Best of the Web 1996

Henry S. Rzepa, Imperial College,
Steven M. Bachrach, Northern Illinois University
and Thomas Pierce, Rohm and Haas

This poster continues our efforts to identify the best new developments on the web for chemists. At the "Chemistry on the Infobahn" session at the Chicago ACS meeting in August 1996, we presented our list of what was best in chemistry on the web. This year, as part of the "Intranets: Chemical applications and uses of web technologies" session at the Orlando ACS meeting, we present two separate efforts at identifying the best of the web. First, we present our own personal evaluation of new web sites that are innovative and novel. Please note that while many of the sites we previously identified continue to provide extremely valuable services to the chemistry community, we have opted to include only new sites this year. This selection reflects the personal opinions of the three authors only, and does not represent any form of official endorsement by anyone else or any organization. The second part of this poster presents the results of the survey we operated for the past year, allowing for members of the chemistry community to vote for their choices for Best of the Web. Again, these selections are based on the votes of the general community and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the authors or any organization.
